The goal of this position is to develop resources that will support CAN. This includes raising funds from a variety of charitable and philanthropic sources and by other appropriate means including but not limited to: grant writing to foundations, grant writing to public entities including but not limited to Cuyahoga Arts and Culture and Ohio Arts Culture, donor cultivation, annual giving campaign, corporate sponsorship, and benefit events. The role also includes working with volunteers.

The successful candidate understands the unique role and value of Collective Arts Network as a membership-based service organization, supporting the Northeast Ohio visual art community by the creation and sustenance of the collaborative media outlet CAN Journal and other projects.

The successful candidate will have experience and demonstrable success as a grant writer for the arts, as well as with donor cultivation, annual giving campaigns, benefits, and working with volunteers.

There is no support staff for this position. The job includes maintenance of a donor/subscriber/patron database, mailings, and other administrative tasks. Excel is a required skill. The job requires excellent
communiciation skills, including writing, but it does not include writing for publication in CAN Journal.

Part time, 20 hours per week.
Pay: $20/ hour
This is a grant-funded, one-year, contracted position with the possibility of renewal.

Qualifications:
BA / BS
Experience and demonstrable success as a grant writer for the arts
Experience in donor relations, including cultivation,
Experience with annual campaigns
Experience in event planning, as staff or volunteer
Experience working with or as a volunteer
Microsoft Word and Excel
Familiarity with the Cleveland art world

Duties:
Research opportunities and develop a grant application calendar, including the development of a list of
new prospects
Work with the Executive Director and other staff to design and execute grant applications on time and
with timely follow up and reports as required
Work with Executive Director to identify corporate sponsor opportunities and build sponsor proposals
Manage grant and sponsor relationships and fulfilment
Work with Executive Director to carry out annual campaign
Work with CAN staff and volunteers and Board to plan and execute benefit events
Work with CAN staff and Board to plan and execute donor cultivation events
Work with the executive director to create a calendar of volunteer tasks, and recruit/coordinate
volunteers to fulfill them

CAN does not maintain offices. Staff works independently using their own computers.

The Development Manager will work independently on his / her own computer, and will meet with the executive director and other CAN staff at least weekly.
