West Shore is home to the West Shore Chorale, a non-profit organization, dedicated to enriching lives through the beauty and power of choral singing.
Based on the 2011 “Putting Artists on the Map”, 56.9 % of artists in West Shore are visual artists. Design and literary artists follow with 9.8 %, while theater and interdisciplinary artists each make up 5.9 %. Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild hosts the Byrdcliffe Art Colony. The colony was placed on the National Register of Historic Sites in 1979 for its architectural and historical significance. It is located in the Catskill Mountains, 1.5 miles from the center of Woodstock, New York. The residency is for artistic excellence of composers, playwrights, poets, screenwriters, visual artists and writers.
