Cleveland-area Auditions

Both paid and unpaid audition opportunities for community and nonprofit theatres and performing groups. If you have or know of an audition notice not included here, submit your listing as a call for artists.

Auditions for "Fire on the Water"

Auditions: Saturday, October 27, 4-8pm & Monday, October 29, 6-10PM
Callbacks: we have not yet decided if callbacks will be needed and will announce that during or shortly after auditions.
Auditions are by appointment only. You can schedule for a 2 hour slot on either Sat. 10/27 or Mon 10/29.
Auditions will be held in a group, so your work will be seen by others auditioning. In addition to showing monologue and song, you will be asked to participate in group physical work. Please plan on staying the full 2 hours of the audition.
What to Prepare: Two minutes of prepared material (monologue, contrasting monologues, 16 bars of a song?). Attend dressed ready to move. Be ready to work physically and vocally within a group. Bring a water bottle, notebook, and pen and your Headshot and Résumé.

Auditions for "Jingle Bell Follies"

A family variety show for all ages! A Christmas celebration including songs, dance and holiday skits and a visit from Santa Claus!
Audition Dates: Sunday, October 21, 2018, 5:00 - 7:00 pm & Monday, October 22, 2018, 7:00 - 9:00 pm
Please be prepared to sing, accapella, a short Christmas song of your choosing, and a short cold reading.

Auditions for "A Christmas Carol"

Auditions: Sunday, October 21 from 6:00pm - 9:00pm & Monday, October 22 from 6:30pm - 9:00pm
Location: The Black Box at Fort Romig, 2207 Romig Rd, Akron, OH 44320
To Schedule an Audition: Appointments can be made by email to casting@rubbercitytheatre.com. Please include your name, phone number, an attachment of your headshot and resume, and your preferred day and/or time. You will receive a response within two business days. We will endeavor to schedule you as near as possible to your requested time, pending availability.
Preparation: Please prepare to read from the script. No monologue preparation needed. You will be auditioning for Dane CT Leasure, Artistic Director of Rubber City Theatre and Director for A Christmas Carol. Please bring a copy of your most current headshot and resume.
All ethnicities are encouraged to audition. Rubber City Theatre is committed to non-traditional casting, except in cases where race, gender, age or disability is essential to the play.
Video auditions will be accepted through 10/23. Please record one monologue of your choosing along with you headshot and resume to casting@rubbercitytheatre.com.

Auditions for "SUDS: The Rocking 60s Musical Soap Opera"

Auditions: Tuesday, November 13 & Wednesday, November 14 at 7:00 pm.
Bring sheet music for voice and piano accompaniment. Belters welcome. Movement as needed.
Open auditions will be cold readings from the script. If needed, callbacks will be Saturday, November 17 at 2 pm.

Auditions for "Forever Plaid"

Audition Dates: Saturday and Sunday, October 20 and 21 1:00pm
Performance Dates: January 17, 18, 19 20, 25, 26, 27 (additional Club dates possible)
Rehearsals dates and times to be determined based on actor availability but may begin as early as late October / early November to best work around the holiday.
* Auditionees are asked to bring two songs of contrasting style that show off their vocal range. Musical theatre selections and/or 50-60s selections in the style of the show are all appropriate and welcome. You MAY sing songs from “Forever Plaid” if you prefer, though it is not required. A score from the show will be available for accompaniment.
* Please bring sheet music in the correct key or your own prerecorded accompaniment. All auditionees will also be taught a short dance audition, so dress for movement.
* Auditionees may be asked to cold read from the script. You may be asked to stay to read additional scenes. This may also happen at callbacks.
* There will be callbacks – schedule tbd.

Auditions for "Hairspray"

Audition Location: Akron Civic Theatre - 182 S. Main St., Akron, OH 44308
Auditions: Sunday, November 4, 2018, 7:30 PM - 10:30 PM
Call Backs: Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM
What to Prepare: 5-minute increments. Prepare two 16 bar songs of your choice in the style of the show. All songs will be performed acapella.

There are no union contracts for this production.
ACT does not usually cast understudies and all performers are volunteers.

Auditions for "Breaking Ground: Musicals That Made An Impact!"

Looking for 8-12 talented performers.
There are no union contracts for this production.
ACT does not usually cast understudies and all performers are volunteers.

What to Prepare: Bring a headshot and resume along with a list of conflicts. One full song that tells a story and that you believe was from a show that made an impact to musical theatre history, bring sheet music in the appropriate key. An accompanist will be provided.

Please prepare two contrasting monologues from Fugard or other South African playwright's work-with South African dialect.
Please prepare to improvise in darkness.

Please prepare the following:
*Please prepare 2 contrasting 32 bar cuts of a song in the style of the show (DO NOT SING FROM THE SHOW), bring sheet music in the appropriate key (accompanist will be provided).
*Audition forms will be provided but auditioners are encouraged to fill them out ahead of time and/or bring a resume. Headshots are appreciated but not required(photos will be taken of those without headshots for reference use).
*Please bring a list of conflict dates you may have during the rehearsal period.
