Cleveland-area Auditions

Both paid and unpaid audition opportunities for community and nonprofit theatres and performing groups. If you have or know of an audition notice not included here, submit your listing as a call for artists.

Auditions for "Mark Twain and His Jumping Frog"

Bay Village Community Theater will hold auditions for its August staged reading, "Mark Twain and His Jumping Frog" adapted by Preston Postle from Mark Twain's "Jumping Frog of Calaveras County" and correspondence. Auditions will take place July 22 and 23, 7-9 pm at St. Barnabas Fellowship Hall, 468 Bradley Rd., Bay Village.
Auditions will consist of readings from the script. There will be two performances of this staged reading: August 17 at 2 pm and August 18 at 6 pm.

Auditions for Ken Ludwig's "A Comedy of Tenors"

Auditions: Sat., July 20 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm and Sun., July 21 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm

Auditions will be cold readings from the script. Auditions will be held at Clague Playhouse, 1371 Clague Road, Westlake.

Auditions for "Annie"

Audition Dates: Sunday, August 25th 1PM & Monday, August 26th 7PM
Callbacks Wednesday, August 28th 7PM

Attend the audition prepared with 16-32 measures of music in the style of the show. Please bring sheet music for the accompanist. Girls auditioning for Annie/Orphans should be familiar with the first verse of “It’s a Hard Knock Life”.
Be dressed for dance/movement.
All roles are open (except for the role of Sandy the dog). Men, women, and children of all ages are needed. The director encourages both family participation as well as individuals.

3 one-act plays by David Mamet, Elaine May, and Woody Allen Directed by Chris Bizub & Nici Romo

Auditions for "Sister Act"

Auditions: Monday, July 22 6:30-9:30 & Tuesday, July 23 6:30-9:30

Auditions will be held at: Brecksville Human Services Center 2 Community Drive Brecksville, OH 44141

Please prepare the following:
* 16-32 bars in the style of the show. Dancing/reading to take place at callbacks.
* Bring appropriate dance clothes to both auditions and callbacks. Dance experience required for most roles
* Bring a headshot and resume
* Please bring a list of conflict dates you may have during the rehearsal period

Requirements:

- Will be reading short monologues from the script at auditions and possibly some scenes.
- It is imperative you are familiar with the script and characters.
- Must be available for all performances, including the daytime senior matinee.

Auditions for "Hello Herman"

Auditions will be held on Tuesday, August 27th and Wednesday, August 28th from 7-9pm
Callbacks (if necessary) will take place on August 29th
All auditioners are asked to come prepared to cold read from the script. They also ask that you bring a current headshot and resume with you to auditions.
At this time, there are no stipends and/or AEA contracts being offered!

Rehearsals will begin on September 1st and generally run Sunday-Thursday evenings
Performances: October 11th, 12th, 18th, and 19th at 8pm and October 13th at 2pm

Auditions for "Anything Goes"

Auditions:
When: Sunday, July 21 from 12-3pm and Monday, July 22 from 7-9:30pm No appointment necessary. Please be signed in by 8pm.
Callbacks by invitation only: Tuesday July 23 from 7-9:30pm and Wednesday July 24 from 7-9:30pm. Be prepared to move and sing.

What to prepare: Two 16-32 bar selections in the style of the show. A joke or short comedic monologue. Please bring your own sheet music, there will be no a capella auditions. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring a headshot or be prepared to take a photo at auditions.

Auditions for "Glengarry Glen Ross"

Auditions: Monday, July 15th and Tuesday, July 16th beginning at 5PM
All of these men are between 35 and 60. Auditioners will be seen individually and BY APPOINTMENT only.
Please call 216-521-2540 x10 to sign up. Auditioning actors should ideally prepare a single monologue not to exceed 2 minutes in length. For anyone unable to prepare a memorized piece, there will be a few brief cuttings from the show available for cold readings.

Puppeteer Auditions for CREATURES

NPB charges a $10 audition fee. If paid at the door rather than ahead of time, the fee increases to $15.
On audition day, bring a photograph clearly labeled with dancer’s first name, last name, and age. Dancers ages 6–10 should be in first position or tendu a la seconde and dancers 11+ in first arabesque.

Auditions for "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying"

Auditions: Sunday, July 28th, 2019 6:00-8:30 pm and Monday, July 29th, 2019 7:00-9:30 pm

What to Prepare: Please bring a resume and headshot. Prepare 32 bars of music preferably not from the show. Prepare your sheet music for an accompanist. A one-minute monologue would be welcome, but not required. No, a capella or taped music. If invited to dance audition or callbacks, scene work, further music or instructions will be given.

Auditions for "Steel Magnolias"

Auditions: July 20, 1-3 p.m. & July 21, 4-6 p.m.
Callbacks on July 22, 6:30 p.m.
Performance Dates : September 20-22 & 27-29

Auditions are open to everyone and are held at the Ashtabula Arts Center. You do not need prior theater experience to try out for a show. If you are not cast in an on-stage role, please consider volunteering on the backstage crew — an essential part of every show’s production team. There is no cost to audition for or take part in a G.B. or Straw Hat show. Please direct audition questions to Kimberly Godfrey, Director of Theater & Music, at (440) 964-3396.

Please bring a list of calendar conflicts for the director of the show you’re trying out for. Commitment is important, and the success of a production relies heavily on everyone from leads to ensemble being responsible and consistent in showing up for rehearsals.

Auditions will take place on Monday, July 15, 2019, between 7:00 and 9:00 PM in the Lakeland Community College Performing Arts Center. No reservations or monologues are needed. Sorry, no Equity Contracts for this one. This is an open audition. All roles are paid. except if you are under 18 years of age; sorry.

Cleveland Pops Orchestra Chorus Auditions

Audition information:
Date: Thursday, August 22nd, Time 5:00pm – 7:00pm
Location: Cleveland State University Music building, East 21st and Euclid, room G17

The Cleveland POPS Orchestra Chorus is a membership organization that performs with Carl Topilow and the Cleveland POPS Orchestra at numerous concerts and events throughout the Orchestra’s concert season. Most performances will take place at Severance Hall and PlayhouseSquare Center. The chorus will rehearse on most Monday evenings from September through May.

Showcase Auditions (Season 5 CDP)

CALLING ALL DANCERS ages 18+, from the professionals to the beginners, if you're looking for a fun performance or choreography opportunity, to challenge yourself with a new style of dance or perfect an old one...or even just looking to make friends with other Cleveland dancers, come out for the fifth OPEN CALL placement audition, all levels of dance experience and all styles of dance welcome and encouraged! This audition process will allow dancers to meet the choreographers and audition for dances of their choice in a group environment that will allow dancers to learn some basic choreography and display their own dance style and personality. They will do our best to place everyone who attends in at least one piece!
