Submission Instructions:
The Cleveland Museum of Art seeks a full-time Assistant Conservator of Paintings for the conservation and preservation of paintings in the museum's vast and diverse collections of paintings. The Assistant Conservator takes part in all activities in the painting's lab, which include examinations for acquisition, loan, and treatment, proposing recommendations for conservation treatments and carrying out those conservation treatments following guidelines established by the American Institute of Conservation (AIC) code of ethics. They lead individual treatments and research initiatives, as well as contributing to collaborative efforts led by the Head of the Paintings Lab and Chief Conservator. The Assistant Conservator of Paintings plays a critical role in the successful functioning of the CMA's conservation department that includes labs and preparatory areas for objects, textiles, Western Paintings, East Asian paintings, works on paper, and frames.
