Ohio City is know as the “Artisan Neighborhood” and includes the Market District and Hinge Town. Home to arts organizations including the Bop Stop at The Music Settlement; Spaces Gallery, a presenting contemporary art venue; Transformer Station, an art gallery; and the Intermuseum Art Conversation Association, a non-profit dedicated to art and cultural heritage preservation, conservation, and education. The neighborhood offers a wealth of cultural institutions; public, private and charter schools; non-profits and charities; local restaurants and shopping.
Based on the 2011 “Putting Artists on the Map”, the dominant disciplines of artists in Ohio City are interdisciplinary (16%), theater (14.7%) and visual (42.7%). The remainder of artists are literary artists (5.3%), craft artists (4%), musicians (4%), media artists (2.7%), designers (2.7%), teaching artists (1.3%) and dancers (1.3%).
