South Shaker is within minutes of the grand theaters of Playhouse Square, Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Great Lakes Science Center, Cleveland Botanical Garden, Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, Case Western University and Severance Hall, home of the Cleveland Orchestra. Cleveland and surrounding areas also have thousands of acres of parks including the Shaker Lakes and Emerald Necklace.

Based on the 2011 “Putting Artists on the Map”, 40.8 % of artists in South Shaker practice the visual arts. There are a high number of musicians at 15.8 % followed by a smaller number of people involved in craft (10.8%), interdisciplinary (7.5%), literary arts (7.5%), design (4.2%), media (3.3%), theater (2.5%) and dance (1.7%).
